Wireless Toyz founder and CEO Joe Barbat began his company with a stand-alone kiosk he opened at the age of 18 in his father’s video store. In less than a decade and a half later, Wireless Toyz has grown into a successful corporation with 100 retail locations across the country. His hard work and tireless diligence paying off, Joe Barbat has earned recognition as one of the country’s top entrepreneurs of the 21st century.
Building Wireless Toyz from the ground up, Joe Barbat designed and implemented a unique business model that adhered closely to his corporate vision of offering cell phone plans from multiple carriers at his retail stores. Applying his talent for business creation, Joe Barbat has managed store development, marketing campaigns, and negotiations with some of the world’s leading service providers in promoting Wireless Toyz to the forefront of the wireless retail industry. Joe Barbat has a bold plan: make Wireless Toyz a nationally recognized household cell phone brand.
Already, the Joe Barbat and Wireless Toyz names are synonymous with successful entrepreneurism. In 2006, Wireless Toyz was listed in the Inc. 500’s list of fastest-growing privately owned U.S. companies. By 2007, Wireless Toyz had received even more honors, including the distinction of being named to Entrepreneur magazine’s Franchise 500 and Fastest Growing Franchises lists. In addition, Joe Barbat was recognized as one of Crain’s Detroit Business’ 40 Under 40 for 2005 and an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year of 2007.
